Dentist

DeeAnn Richards Behrens DDS

Dr. Behrens has owned i Smile kck for 31 years and has practiced dentistry in KCK for almost 40 years. She graduated from the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Dentistry in 1987 and from the University of Kansas with a degree in Human Development in 1983.

Dr. Behrens was born and raised in Wyandotte County. A graduate of Washington High School, she is recognized as a "Reason to Believe" by the USD 500. She met her husband, the Reverend Rick Behrens there at Washington. They have two grown sons, Sam and Lucas. Rick leads the Grandview Park Presbyterian Church, a bilingual community, in KCK. Together, they are very active in bettering Wyandotte County. Our community is important to Dr. Behrens. She was in Leadership 2000 Year XIV and was a Paul Harris Fellow member of Village West Rotary. Professional honors include Oral Health Kansas Dental Champions Leadership Program 2010 and has repeatedly been chosen as Top KC Dentist by 435 Magazine. She is a member of the Kansas Dental Association and the American Dental Association and has volunteered for the Kansas Mission of Mercy. She is an avid soccer fan and is a charter member season ticket holder for the Kansas City Wizards, now known as Sporting KC.

Dental Hygienist

Jo

Lisset Gonzalez, RDH and Jo Shryock, RDH are the full-time hygienists at i Smile kck. Jo has been at i Smile kck 25 years and Lisset just joined as a hygienist in 2025. Lisset is bilingual: Spanish and English. They are very aware of the importance of the periodontal exam at each cleaning appointment. Periodontal scaling and root planning is done here at the office when needed.

Sandra

Sandra assists Dr. Behrens chairside. She is gentle, caring, and detail-oriented. Sandra speaks English and Spanish.

Abi

Crystal and Abi make a great team at the front desk. Crystal will help you set up your appointment. Abi will help you discover your insurance benefits so you can maximize your insurance plan. They are both bilingual in Spanish and English.

Having Abi, Crystal and Sandra as Spanish speakers is very important to providing a comfortable and understandable dental visit for our Spanish speaking patients. Dr. Behrens enjoys practicing Spanish with patients, but is still learning. Please bring a translator with you if you speak a language other than Spanish or English. See you soon!
